Balance of Organisation Account

-6,861 Buzzards

- 6,168 Buzzards

From 2nd March 2020 until the end November 2021 we had 1180 trades totalling 3551 Buzzards.  We had one new member who was paid 10 Buzzards as her joining fee.

As a comparison from beginning March 2019 to beginning of March 2020 there were 730 trades for a value of 3,844, however the number of member to member trades fell from 268 over the year 2019/2020 to 230 trades (with a value of 2416 Buzzards) over this 21 month period which is unsurprising considering the pandemic period.  It is pleasing to see that so much trading has actually continued.

No members have claimed Buzzards as expenses during this time for work undertaken on behalf of the organisation.

The overall deficit of Organisation Account has decreased by 693 Buzzards.

Valerie has asked for 6 buzzards for her work as treasurer, this was agreed.

Jean will ask Valerie if the article she wrote was published in the Leighton Buzzard Observer.

Mary (sterling treasurer)

Mary reported a balance of £294.67 including £2 joining fee from new member.

Bob (Membership)

We have a new member Christine 274. Bob contacted her to ask for more information. Bob hasn’t heard so Jane will ask Bob to ask again. In the meantime, Jean will add her to the email list.

Jean has had another enquiry and has sent out details.

Sue (Facebook)

Sue publicised open meeting and garden trading day on Facebook.

4. AGM

30th April 2 – 4pm

The Friends Meeting House are limiting numbers to 9 (15 with masks) so Jean proposed to move the meeting to St Barnabas Church Hall as it is larger. Jean will book. It was agreed that we would have cream tea and an opportunity to socialise after the meeting.

5. Future events - plans for 2021

Jean has heard from Barbara who would like to host a trading event sometime next year. She will be in touch when she has sorted out a date.

Gill’s walk in Astral Park was cancelled due to bad weather so she is rescheduling it to 10:30am 27th March. Followed by food at the Cod and Waffle for those who wish to go. The walk will be over rough ground and so suitable footwear is essential.

Jane will organise a spring garden trade. Date to be confirmed.

6. Welcoming new members

Jean mentioned that new members rarely come to events. Jane commented that a member contacted her when she first joined but that was when we listed offers on the application form. Phone calls and emails were discussed and it was pointed out that many people don’t like getting unexpected phone call and that they often don’t answer the phone if they don’t recognise the number of the caller..  Jane suggested she email any new members a few weeks before the next couple of events.

7. Next newsletter

It was decided to wait as we don’t have much to put in a newsletter at the moment.

8. Any other business

Gill asked if she should use the email group or Cyclos to advertise offers and wants? It was explained that she could use either but she is likely to get more response using email. Gill said she found it easier using Cyclos.

9. Dates, times and hosts for future meetings

29th March 2022 at Bob and Jane's house, 2 Victoria Road, Linslade LU7 2NT

Meeting closed at 8:05pm
